You made an impact on the dog!
"The best feedback comes from our Airedale, Brick, who spent Christmas week at Vermillion Kennels. Our old dog passed away just before we left, so he stayed alone there and came home to a very different house. He was happy to see us, but quieter than normal. Year-old Airedales are usually energetic. Two nights later, he was sleeping while I repotted some houseplants and herbs brought in from the garden. All of a sudden, he scrambled upright and begin whining excitedly with his tail wagging furiously. His nose was up and he breathed deeply the scent of the lavender leaves that were accidentally crushed in my hands. He came over and pushed his huge nose into my hands, rubbing his face in the oils. It took a moment to realize where this strange, but obviously happy, behavior was coming from. My daughter said the dogs receive a face-washing with lavender-scented washcloths every night. There's no doubt he loved it there, but I do have to wonder if he was happy because of the memory or because he thought we are going to continue the same routine! He was obviously in a fantastic place that week. Thank you. "
